Is it all black and white?

I recently presented a talk entitiled ‘If you are not leading, something or someone else is’; introducing a perspective on leadership and team building as part of my work with TeamFlow Coaching. However whilst appropriate for organizations, teams, leaders – this conversation goes deeper.

Last week I was in a familiar mental space. Looking at work that needs doing around my finances, old fears came up. Fear that I would not be able to create what I needed to create – that somehow things would fall apart. That I had made plans which would put me in the wrong place at the right time, in harms way.

It took me about 24 hours and the support of some insightful, generous, loving people – and practicing some serious vulnerability – to get through to the far side and pop back out into a space of possibility. The contrast between these two ways of being – my ‘Survival’ conversation and my ‘Possibility’ have become very starkly in contrast over the last few years. The contrast becomes sharper all of the time. What used to be a blurred distinction that I could barely see in my life is now more night and day.

But this isn’t about me. It is actually about everybody.

My big ‘Why’ – the reason I am doing what I am doing and playing the way I am is that I believe that a better world; one of profound possibility, of creativity, of passion, of abundance is possible in this world – for everyone. To get there, requires a change.

The change? An end to living from our survival stories – an end to living by default, and instead choosing to create a life worthy of each one of us individually and collectively, of humanity.

This last six months I have been pushing hard in this direction. I launched the Man on Purpose program, and have been humbled to see the impact it has had in the lives of the Men who have taken this journey so far. I launched TeamFlow Coaching with some other powerful, talented Coaches, who are committed to making a difference in the place where most of us experience the flow of purpose in our lives – our workplaces.

And I am upping my personal Coaching practice – taking on clients who are looking to make a profound difference for themselves and those around them. Not fixing their lives (which are not broken) – instead setting their lives and purpose ON FIRE!

Mine is burning in me. Which is probably why all of my old survival stories, of a smaller version of myself that those stories have kept safe for so long, are being so loud right now. And creating challenging circumstances that would have stopped me in years past.

My life is a train that will not stop. I can choose to keep trying to put the brakes on (default), or lean into the curves and keep pushing forward. I do not know where the tracks are going exactly – but I do know the direction and what I am intending to be the places I will pass en route.

By default has got me – and I contend got us – humanity as far as we have come. It is time for the tipping point to not be the natural world calling time on our species, but us calling time on living from our genetic past and creating our collective invented future. Coming of age, and creating what is next.

Individually.

and.

Together.

Lets’ go.
