Big enough

I look on Beauty

Appearance shakes me

I long for depth

That I cannot fathom

When I close my eyes, less beguiled, they are the same

Surface movements over deep undercurrents

In which I long to swim

Breathlessly

I have made friends with longing

Made tea with despair

Invited wrenching grief to my table

And run alongside my fear

There are no more enemies here

Nothing to remove

Everything to collect and revere

Stretching a heart big enough

to contain it all
